Who we are

Monday Night Gaming is a close group of friends who get together online to play easy, approachable party games.

It grew out of the COVID years. In 2020 a handful of us started playing an online version of Cards Against Humanity, then moved on to Jackbox. Around 2022 it turned into a regular thing, and it has been growing ever since.

What we do

Every Monday from 9 PM to midnight (Montreal time), we pick a game and play it together on Discord. SiMoNiZe23 streams the night live on Twitch.

We stay close to the spirit of social party games, like Mario Party and Overcooked. Every now and then we wander off, as with Unreal Tournament or Star Wars Battlefront, but we always come back to games that are easy to pick up and fun to share.

How we do it

The game is chosen by a vote in the #weekly-poll channel on Discord. The poll closes at 6 PM on Monday.

  1. Vote for as many games as you like.
  2. If a game you voted for wins, please show up. People plan their evening around the result, and a no-show can tip the vote and waste everyone's night.
  3. If you can't make it anymore, come back and remove your votes as early as you can.
  4. Suggest new games any time in the MNG text channel. Games that don't get steady votes are rotated out to make room for new ones.
  5. Good picks play well with 4 or more players, since the group keeps growing, and cost under $15 so they stay approachable.

House rules

The short version: have fun, relax, unwind, and be respectful to each other.

  1. Be respectful. No rudeness, discrimination or racism.
  2. Keep political talk out of voice chat.
  3. Swearing is fine, but it shouldn't turn into a swear fest.
  4. Play fair. In every game, including the competitive ones, do whatever it takes to win within the rules. Just use common sense: if you aren't genuinely trying to win, don't spend the round griefing everyone else. Going all out to win is great. Wrecking everyone else's game for no reason isn't.
  5. Be a good teammate. Help newer players, share what you know, and keep it fun for the whole group.
  6. Pineapple pizza is a sin.
  7. Colour and neighbour have a "u" in them.

If something's bothering you, message Magistrate and/or Simonize on Discord.
